Owner Breckenridge-Wynkoop LLC will break ground soon on The Cherry Cricket’s third location on Thursday at 819 W. Littleton Blvd. in Littleton. The building fits The Cherry Clicket’s vintage aesthetic as they will occupy the former Denver classic Crestwood Restaurant. The nearly 6,400-square-foot space will feature 400 seats, 100 of which will be in an outdoor burger beer garden (the best kind of beer garden).

“Everyone who knows The Crestwood, no matter who you tell, they have a story,” Alex Bunn, vice president for brand strategy and growth at Breckenridge-Wynkoop Restaurant Group, said. “We loved the idea of bringing the space back to life and making a place for people to make new memories.”

The original Cherry Cricket has been located in Cherry Creek since it began as Mary Zimmerman’s Bar (and her house) in 1945. Breckenridge-Wynkoop opened a second locale outside of Coors Field in 2018. Now, this move south aligns with the restaurant group’s deep Littleton history as the founder of the Breckenridge Brewery and the adjoining Farm House (before its sale to Anheuser-Busch InBev in 2015).

While individual Cherry Cricket locations choose which craft brews they have on tap, the new restaurant’s menu will primarily remain the same as its peers, Bunn said. This is good news for fans of the Readers’ Choice winner of 5280 Magazine’s 2021 Top of the Town Best Burger. Patrons can smother quarter- or half-pound beef, bison, or ground turkey burgers in everything from peanut butter to chipotle aioli. There are also veggies galore, sundry cheeses, and more. Other hot sammy options include grilled and blackened chicken, pulled pork, and a Reuben. Salads and soups accompany tasty appetizers like wings, guacamole, and crispy mac and cheese bites. Diners should make sure to save room for homemade shakes, with or without booze.

The Cherry Cricket Littleton expects to open by mid-2023, weaving the old Crestwood’s palatial fish tank and other vintage aspects into the new interior.
