Founder Dave Duffin graciously confirmed the intel, before directing What Now Denver to Zao’s Operator Charles O’Grady. Comment from O’Grady is forthcoming.

Per the company’s website, Zao Asian Kitchen currently only has locations in Utah. It’s unclear if ZAK has signed a franchising deal and/or will begin expansion to other states.

The fast-casual concept offers bowls, tacos, banh mi wraps, salads, soups, kids’ items, sides, and extras.

Regarding the bowls, customers start by choosing a base of white rice, brown rice, rice noodles, or yakisoba noodles before topping it with protein (chicken, steak, meatballs, or organic tofu), veggies (wok-seared vegetables and/or corn), sauce (teriyaki, green curry, chili lemongrass, and/or yellow curry), and extras (carrot daikon, cilantro, guacamame, peanuts, crispy onions and/or red chili sambal).

The tacos, wraps, salads, and even soup take on a similar build-your-own model, making for a multitude of exciting ways to “switch it up.”

Zao also offers catering.
