Plans are underway to bring an all-you-can-eat sushi concept to the Denver Metro area. The group behind Hwaro Korean BBQ, which is expected to open at The Confluence sometime this spring or early summer, plans to open two Hwaro Premium Sushi locations in 2022.
The primary Hwaro Premium Sushi will be located a couple of blocks from Hwaro Korean BBQ in the former location of Chuey Fu’s at 2100 West 16th St., #145, Denver, CO 80202. Since Hwaro Premium Sushi is taking over a former restaurant space, it may open this spring, but the opening date depends on how quickly the city can move forward with permitting and licensing.
A second Hwaro Premium Sushi location is in the works for 7333 W. 38th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, possibly opening sometime in the fall of 2022.
“It was just something that organically developed, and we decided it was something that could complement the barbecue,” said Peter Oh, Hwaro Premium Sushi partner. “It’s something we thought we could bring to Denver, and we think it could do really well.”
Hwaro Korean BBQ was initially expected to open sometime this spring, but it could take a little longer to get the restaurant ready for the public. “We just recently got our construction permit,” Oh told What Now Denver.
“With the pandemic and supply chain problems, who really knows. We are calculating a construction period of three, four, maximum maybe five months, but the pandemic just makes everything incredibly difficult right now,” Oh said about the barbecue concept.
“We are hoping that people will hear about us and eventually, when we have a place up and running, that people will come and visit us.”
