First revealed in Westword, the Handsome Boys Hospitality group is partnering with property owners Fillmore Capital Partners to bring five new restaurant spaces to the 1900 block of Market Street. The quintet will replace three just-closed eat and drink establishments at the property — El Tejano, Loaded, and Smash Face Brewing.

Founded in 2021, Handsome Boys partners Josh Schmitz, Nick Brown, Brandon Jount, and head of operations, Mat Haberman, hope to bring a more Colorado-based vibe to the LoDo locales. Named for a Schmitz’s Christmas tree lot crew (per Westword), the Handsome Boys have plenty of experience with already 13 local restaurant concepts under the moniker (according to their website). Spread over 32,000 square feet, the new dining destinations will incorporate a diversity of Denver cultures.

Opening at 1949 Market St., Con Safos will replace El Tejano. Captain, an area food truck, will build the menu for the “Mexican party bar” that will offer up a selection of street tacos along with another cultural twist — Mexican sushi. Inside the new Mexican eatery will be a speakeasy — Agua Benodita — Spanish for “holy water” and so-named for the Republic’s agave alcohol, mezcal. Westword reports that Agua Benodita will also serve as a segway to the property’s massive 500-person capacity dance club, Jaguar Room, replacing Loaded space at 1941 Market St.

Ushering in the vibe of nearby Coors Fields will be Tony Tenderonis at 1937 Market St. The sports bar will serve up typical beer and fried bites to hungry fans. Patrons will also be able to park their pup and enjoy the outdoor scene on the bar’s dog-friendly patio.

Putting a cherry on top of the new offerings, El Patio will occupy what Westword asserts is Denver’s largest rooftop space. The chic space will look to bring in a younger crowd looking for an upscale, outdoor aesthetic.

Post a St. Patrick’s Day special opening on Friday, March 16, the Handsome Boys plan to launch the happening new hotspots on April 6, in line with the Colorado Rockies’ Opening Day.
