Expected to open in Boulder this May, Purrfect Pause Cat Cafe will combine a cafe and boutique with a cat sanctuary. Owner Aleks Talaro has always loved cats and worked at rescues and shelters. Talaro first decided on the cat cafe idea after discovering Denver Cat Company.

“I started researching the concept, and I discovered the original Japanese cat cafes. I just wanted to bring that vision to life,” Talaro said.
Right now, local artist Hilari Rose is painting a vibrantly-colored, psychedelic forest mural inside Purrfect Pause at 5290 Arapahoe Ave., Ste E in Boulder. “We just got into the space at the beginning of this month, so it’s really all about setting up at this point,” Talaro said.
Talaro is teaming up with local rescues and shelters to find cats for adoption. “We will have upwards of 10 to 15 cats at a time.” Purrfect Pause will also offer self-serve coffee and pre-packaged food for sale, as well kitty-themed merchandise for humans and cats.
Special events will also be part of Purrfect Pause including yoga, paint night, craft night, and more, as well as a space to host private events. Talaro is also speaking to a therapist to possibly rent space at the location. “It’s for the cats, and it’s also a place for community.”
