Right Cream Adding Not One, but Two New Denver Locales

Don’t fret: Right Cream, one of Denver’s best desserts, will have preordered pints available during construction.

Downtown lost an ice cream parlor after this past summer, but this loss will be Berkeley and South Denver’s gain. Reported first in The Denver Post, Right Cream partners David Right and Josh Siegel aim to open two new standalone shops — at 2423 S. Downing St. in February and at 3832 Tennyson St. later in the year. When construction permits are issued will determine when the second location will open.

On Downing St. in South Denver, Right Cream is taking over the standalone Yum Yum ice cream shop, formerly run by Denver Beer Co. The small, standalone building on DBC’s property is therefore already outfitted and should be an easy transition for Right Cream.

“We love their brand. It’s very symbiotic and collaborative. It’s a very popular, very neighborhood, very family-friendly spot. Just a great vibe,” Siegel said in a conversation with What Now Denver.

Before it was named Denver’s “Best Ice Cream” by Westword in 2022, Right Cream began as a COVID-era model, selling preordered pints through Instagram. The dessert shop, according to Siegel, would post a four- to five-flavor menu to Instagram and make the ice cream to order.

“We sold flavors first, which allowed us to scale,” Siegel said. “Sales were final Monday, and we’d make those for the end of the week.”

While Right Cream still sports its preorder model, about half of revenue now comes from 10-15 new walkup flavors each week, Siegel said. This includes such correct creations as S’mOreos with Oreo ice cream, vanilla bean marshmallow fluff, graham cracker toffee, and hot fudge swirls along with the holiday-themed Jingle Bell Red Rocketship — peppermint stick ice cream with “super fudgie brownie chonks” and mint truffle Hershey Kisses. People missing these rich messes can still preorder pints while new locations are under construction.

“The idea is to keep everything changing, keep it very ephemeral; order this now or you’re never going to get it,” Siegel said.

Keep an eye on Instagram for new flavors and comments from celebrities like Ina Garten celebrating Right Cream’s spot-on chilled mixes.
