Like so many emerging endeavors, Right Cream was born of pandemic boredom and curiosity. When David Right realized that ice cream — a blank canvas as he calls it — could be anything, the ball began rolling…and it hasn’t slowed since.

During lockdown, the 30-year-old former software salesman began making and selling ice cream from his home, hoping to accrue some quick cash. He then proceeded to peddle the creations to “notable names on the restaurant scene,” exponentially increasing its popularity, before enlisting the help of his longtime friend Josh Siegel

Siegel stepped in to man the business side of the operation, tending to spreadsheets and the like — elements that Right admits he cannot stand. Conversely, Right says Siegel “has no business in the kitchen,” which makes the two an absolutely complementary combination (much like their most popular flavor Cookies & C.R.E.A.M.).

So, what makes Right Cream the right cream? Their obsession with quality, of course. The ice cream and the mix-ins are all handmade — even ingredients like peanuts are specially spruced up.

Prior to leasing the 1,300-square-foot building that will soon house their fully-formed, non-pop-up ice cream shop, Right and Siegel were selling 400 pints a week for $13 each from their weekends-only walk-up window. The menu offers around 15 flavors that change each week and are announced on Mondays. And while the duo hopes to continue their growth, they intend to stay away from major retailers as maintaining the fun if it all remains a top priority for the company.
