What started as a cottage food business with simple cakes in September 2021 is now a growing dessert business in the Denver Metro area. “It’s picked up so much since then,” said Snowstorm Sweets owner Alyssa Gorman. “It’s crazy how quickly it’s progressed. It’s been really exciting.”

Gorman recently signed a lease at an east Denver commercial kitchen to have more space to bake. Gorman’s plans are to open a brick-and-mortar location, possibly in Lakewood, in early 2023.
Gorman will work out of the commercial kitchen to cater special events and offer her sweets at farmers’ markets. “I mainly focus a lot on unique desserts like custom order and making special cakes for occasions,” Gorman told What Now Denver.
One of her most popular flavors is a combination of red velvet and caramel. New flavors this spring are mostly fruit including an orange creamsicle. “Along with my unique style of baking, I want to have the flavors follow that trend.”
Snowstorm Sweets offers wedding cakes, special event cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and more, including cakesicles, which are pieces of cake that are encased in tempered chocolate. Gluten-free and vegan sweets are also available.
A new offering by Snowstorm Sweets is a monthly subscription box. The Monthly Sweet Box is delivered each month with desserts based on the customer’s favorite flavors and dietary restrictions.
