The Gypsy Room, tentatively scheduled to open its doors in the fall of 2022, will be a private steampunk, Victorian era, and art deco speakeasy tasting room for Art of the Spirits Distillery in Colorado Springs.
The Gypsy Room is a 400-square-foot space in a new building that is currently under construction at 3372 Adobe Court, Ste. 110 in Colorado Springs. A 1,900-square-foot distillery will be in the back.
“We should finish it by September. Then we’ll have a grand opening. The grand opening is set to be sold out before we even release tickets,” said Richard Paul, owner of The Gypsy Room and Art of the Spirits Distillery.
Grand opening VIP golden ticket holders will get a chance to reserve Art of the Spirits Distillery’s new Steampunk Whiskey series that showcases world-renowned artist David Uhl’s oil painting. For the grand opening, they will release an 18-year rye whiskey finished in a 2009 Mark XVII Foursquare rum barrel.
The grand opening will feature a catered, five-course meal paired with Art of the Spirits Distillery whiskey. Each golden ticket holder can enjoy a 1920s themed burlesque show and receive a giveaway from sponsors.
Paul plans to offer The Gypsy Room to members only, and the membership program will be launching soon. Different levels of memberships will be offered, and every month, each member will get an exclusive bottle—an Art of the Spirits Cask Strength bourbon or rye whiskey. Members will receive a key card to enter The Gypsy Room and can bring a certain amount of guests depending on membership level.
The Gypsy Room will serve elegant charcuterie boards but will cater in dishes from local food trucks. Whiskey tastings will also be offered. “It’s just going to be whiskey to start. We are talking about possibly a rum and vodka, but I think that’s going to be down the road,” Richard Paul told What Now Denver.
Paul is partnering with Sunshine Studios Live in Colorado Springs for entertainment. “We’re working with really high-end artists to play private nights for our members,” Richard Paul said.
“I’m super excited. It’s been a long time coming,” Richard Paul shared. “This will be something that’s never really been out here before.”
