Superfruit Republic is undergoing an expansion with two new locations tentatively scheduled to open in 2022. The Westminster location at 8940 Westminster Blvd. was originally scheduled to open in April, but a construction shortage of commercial-grade electrical breakers has pushed back the opening date.
“With the breakers not being there, we couldn’t do all our building inspections and health inspections,” said Chris Hynes, Superfruit owner. “We’re hoping mid-June, late-June, we’ll have that one open. Summer is our busiest time, so we’re actually really disappointed that we didn’t get to open in April. But, it’s just been one of those things with supply chain issues in the current environment,” Hynes said.
“The Westminster area is being completely revitalized,” Hynes shared, “so we’re just super excited to be part of it.”
Hynes is hopeful that Superfruit at Denver International Airport will open sometime in the fall of 2022, possibly by October. “There’s not that many healthy eating options in the airport at all, so we’re super excited to bring a more healthy eating option.”
The menu at Westminster will be identical to the current locations in Central Park and Downtown Denver. Superfruit features toasts and waffles, smoothies, pressed juices, and organic acai bowls. “We try to do more of a true Brazilian-style acai bowl where it’s full acai,” Hynes explained. The airport location with only about 400-square-feet will feature a limited menu to include fewer topping options.
As more office buildings reopen, business is picking up at Superfruit. “It’s a super exciting time especially after going through the Pandemic. It was rough for a long while there.”
