Culver’s opened in Sauk City, Wisconsin in 1984 when Craig and Lea Culver, along with Craig’s parents George and Ruth, began selling ButterBurgers and frozen custard in their hometown. ButterBurgers are fresh, never-frozen beef patties that are seared after you order and topped with a lightly buttered, toasted bun. They’re available with standard toppings; mushroom & swiss; bacon; as singles, doubles, or triples; and as melts.

Frozen custard, on the other hand, is an ice cream-like treat made with eggs in addition to cream and sugar. Culver’s serves its custard as sundaes; whipped up like blizzards; in cones; and as malts, shakes, and floats. What’s more, the Culver’s menu spans beyond burgers and custard, offering sandwiches, tenders, seafood, snacks & sides (including Wisconsin cheese curds, of course), soups, salads, and an array of sauces.

A What Now Denver interview with Meyer is forthcoming.

The article has been updated to include a What Now Denver interview with Tracy Meyer:

WND: Where, specifically, will your Culver’s store be located?

TM: 2035 S Webster St, Lakewood, CO 80232

WND: Why did you choose Culver’s?

TM: My brother Matt and I first became interested in becoming Culver’s franchisees because we saw a huge opportunity to expand a beloved midwestern brand in the Denver metro area. Culver’s has become such a beloved brand because it holds true to its core values of doing the right thing, delighting in every moment, practicing kindness, and growing stronger together. These core values resonate deeply with Matt and I and were often something we found lacking in our previous careers.

WND: What’s your favorite menu item? Any secret menu tricks & tips?

TM: My favorite meal at Culver’s is a Deluxe Butterburger, Crinkle Cut Fries, and a Rootbeer Milkshake. Many people don’t realize that all Culver’s food is cooked-to-order so we can truly customize whatever you want to order!

WND: What can customers expect from your store?

TM: Our goal as owners is to make you feel like a guest in our home.  We know you have many options when it comes to dining out and appreciate you choosing us. So if we can do our part to make your day a little better, whether that’s by greeting you at the door or providing you with a wholesome, delicious meal, then we’ve done our job.

WND: What are your hopes for your Culver’s location?

TM: Our hope is to become a valued “family” member in the community. We want our restaurant to be the place you come to celebrate birthdays, grab a dessert on Friday evening, or gather with family after church on a Sunday.

WND: What will you do to ensure your store is top-notch?

TM: We know that ensuring our guests have the best experience possible comes down to hiring people who have an amazing attitude, a genuine smile, and work hard.  As owner-operators we are in one of our restaurants everyday working alongside the team, and while we can teach anyone to flip a burger, we can’t train heart and attitude. What truly sets our restaurants apart is the people!

WND: Do you have plans to own any other Culver’s locations? If so, where?

TM: We currently own two of the other Culver’s locations in the Denver metro area, Westminster and Littleton. We are hopeful we will be able to continue to expand the Culver’s brand in the Denver metro area in the future but for now will focus on making sure our newest location in Lakewood is successful!
