“I think one of the most appealing portions of what we’re doing is we’re taking an already existing and popular local spot that does great with beer, cocktails and food, and just making an extension onto it,” Kevin Lind, The Back 9 co-owner, told What Now Denver.

“After over fifteen years of live music, it was a hard decision to close the music venue and re-brand as a virtual golf establishment, but we are excited to provide an inviting space for golfers to come play courses from all over the world,” said Leslie Odell, co-owner and operator of The Walnut Room.

The Walnut Room, which is a full-service restaurant, will offer pizza, wings, sandwiches, and salads to golfers, as well as a full bar of cocktails, wine, and beer.

The Back 9 will feature two golf simulators available for rent at $50 per hour. “We will also do industry night, happy hours in which those pricings will change,” Lind explained.

The Back 9 space will also have 12 taps of rotating beer and house coolers for closed-container, to-go craft beer. “In that portion of RiNo on Walnut Street, there’s not really anywhere besides breweries that you can go and grab a six pack of craft beer on the fly,” Lind said.

Installation of the golf simulators is planned for early next year, and Lind hopes The Back 9 will be open to the public by the end of January 2022.

“Because of the way the simulators work and how you have to put up walls, it will definitely, drastically change the space, but it won’t minimize it,” Lind explained. The simulators will not be side-by-side but instead will be staggered, so golfers will hit in opposite directions and have a more private space to socialize.

Lind wants The Back 9, which will be located at 3131 Walnut St., Denver, CO 80205, to be accessible to everyone living in and visiting the RiNo neighborhood. “We already have a very family-friendly, well-established restaurant that we’re partnering with, and the biggest differentiator is that we’re a family-friendly bar scene version.”
