When WestFax Brewing Company owner Anthony Martuscello found a second brewery location with the foundation already poured under a ready-to-build blueprint at 3043 W. Pikes Peak Ave. in Colorado Springs, he didn’t hesitate to buy the property. Formerly in the plans for Greeley’s WeldWerks Brewing Co., WestFax is now poised to take over where WeldWerks halted construction.

“We’re not changing a lot on the build out,” Martuscello said. “Inside, we’ll change the finish and lighting to make it our own, but the original architect is incredible. There’s so much potential there.”
First reported in The Denver Post, WestFax Brewing’s expansion is an extension of Martuscello’s original vision: selling high-quality, craft beer directly to the people who consume it.
WestFax’s original location in Lakeside, already has over a dozen beers on tap with additional non-alcoholic and kombucha options. Martuscello opened the brewery in 2016 to establish a neighborhood locale where community folks could stop by for a pint or cans to go. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, had other plans. With the tap room shut down, WestFax turned to distribution to pay the bills. Now that society has returned to its gathering places, Martuscello has his sites set on providing hopped treats to the people again.
“At the end of the day, it was the move for us. We want to sell more beer direct to the consumer,” Martuscello said.
The 3,000-square-foot taproom and rooftop patio will have just a shade under a 100-seat capacity with 95 more people allowed on the 1,500-square-foot beer garden. There is potential, but no plans yet for a kitchen. A number of food carts will move in to provide eats to accompany drinks when WestFax Colorado Springs is anticipated to open in August 2023.
