According to recent reporting from 9 News, the restaurant will be a few yards away from an In-N-Out that just opened at the end of last year.

Franchisee William Tamminga is also planning on opening a Colorado training center for the company at 5905 Constitution Avenue.

The company originally opened in 1950 by Harmon Dobson and has since grown to over 800 locations. According to the website, his idea was to serve a burger so big that it required two hands to hold and one “so good” that after just one bite customers wouldn’t be able to help but say, “What a burger!”

These days, the company strives to maintain that original vision, and assures that each burger is still made to order, when it’s ordered. The burgers are made with 100% pure beef and served on a big, toasted five-inch bun.

The initial Whataburger in Colorado Springs is expected to be open by the end of 2021, but there’s at least one more planned on Doublin Boulevard that’s expected to be ready by the end of 2022.

What Now Denver reached out to Tamminga on Thursday, but he was unavailable for comment.
