For six years, Cho77 ran at 1520 16th Street and served Southeast Asian street food. Although it closed its doors, it’s set to be replaced by another concept: YumCha.

YumCha will still be run by ChoLon Restaurant Concepts, founded by Chef Lon Symensma and Christopher Davis-Massey, and will take place of Cho77 next to two of their other concepts, ChoLon and LeRoux.

Symensma told Westword back in May that the street food concept behind Cho77 started suffering at the hands of the pandemic, further stating that “noodles” and “dumplings” — the trademark dishes coming into the new concept — are more buzzwords.

The restaurant will also feature the work of New York City’s Chef Michelle Xiao, who is said to be one of the best dumpling makers in the Big Apple.

While the rest of the menu remains hush hush for now, it’s rumored to “elevate dim sum to the next level” and will be “a fun little spot… when lunch crowds come back.”

As of now, no official opening date has been set. The website for the restaurant still says late summer 2021, and recent reporting from the Denver Daily News suggests it will be early fall.

What Now Denver reached out to Davis-Massey, who confirmed the restaurant was forthcoming, but has not yet offered the official date as of publication.
