The company was started by Kevin Johnson, who played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns and is also the former mayor of Sacramento, California. Fixins Soul Kitchen serves hearty breakfast, lunch, and dinner options and celebrates Black culture. Johnson met with Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock to celebrate the announcement that Fixins is coming to town.
“We are excited to continue our national expansion and bring Fixins Soul Kitchen to Denver. I know that the Five Points community is the perfect area to showcase our authentic soul food and together we will make beautiful music!” Johnson was quoted as saying in a press release.
The space, 6,500 square feet with seating inside and outside for 190 guests, will be filled with jazz decor as a nod to Five Points’ founding. It’s a very centrally located space, a block from the 25th and Welton train stop and nearby some legendary music venues.
