After a December 9 approval hearing, a city officer gave the green light to Patrick Duncan to develop the Sit and Stay Dog Bar on 2.2 acres of vacant land at 1524 N. College Ave. in Fort Collins (per the Coloradoan). According to the Sit and Stay website, Duncan plans to open the bar, restaurant, and outdoor dog park in 501 days — April 29, 2024.

The concept splits two-levels and over 17,000 square feet (per Fort Collins records) between an indoor adult craft beer bar and eatery, an indoor dog park, a doggie daycare, a longer-term kennel, and an outdoor play area. Patrons can also eat at the open-air dog park that sports irrigated artificial turf installed to decrease any unpleasant smell.

In a November interview with the Coloradoan, Duncan revealed the inspiration for Sit and Stay was Bar K in Kansas City where dogs and humans can play side-by-side. Next year, Duncan will bring that concept to Fort Collins where his four dogs will surely be frolicking while he runs the restaurant.
