Per the University of Colorado Boulder, construction just commenced on a new luxury, on-campus hotel complex at the 1400 block of Broadway. Slated to include 250 rooms, the Limelight Conference Center and Hotel Boulder will host a 15,000 square-foot ballroom space, a ground-floor restaurant, and an outdoor plaza. Managed by The Little Nell Hotel Group (a subsidiary of Aspen Skiing Company), the end of January groundbreaking seals years of extensive collaboration to “fill a gap in large conference space” in Boulder (per a press release).

“We are excited to see construction begin on a facility that has been anxiously anticipated by so many in our community for so long,” CU Boulder Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano said in the statement. “The Limelight Hotel Boulder will provide a new stage for highlighting the groundbreaking work taking place in our community.”

With an ability to host organizational events and public gatherings of all kinds, there will be a continuous stream of potential patrons at the eatery along with outdoor spots for the local community.

“This irreplaceable project, at the intersection of Broadway and University, will provide a cornerstone to the university’s campus and catalyze the University Hill neighborhood, becoming a landmark in the area,” Aspen Skiing Company CEO Alinio Azevedo said in the presser.

Partners will work to make the Limelight accessible to all. Boulder will achieve this, in part, from a municipal accommodations tax levied to provide financial support for nonprofit outfits and civic groups. CU Boulder and Aspen are also cooperating to institute innovative construction goals by striving for LEED Gold certification at the Limelight.

Slated to open in summer 2025, there is not yet a concept for the Limelight restaurant. According to Aspen Hospitality PR sources, the group generally operates its own restaurants at The Little Nell in Aspen in addition to Limelight locations in Aspen, Snowmass, and Ketchum (Idaho).
