Mizu Izakaya and Sushi Coming to the Denver International Airport

The tapas-style sushi spot with a causal after-work atmosphere will come to the DIA in 2023

Mizu Izakaya and Sushi will open at the Denver International Airport (8500 Peña Blvd, Denver, CO 80249) in 2023, according to 9 News. Several other concession owners slated for a 2023 DIA opening are reporting first-quarter launch dates, with a majority of them landing in April.

Mizu opened in Denver’s Low Highlands neighborhood in the Fall of 2016 to bring the community a Japanese bar, or “izakaya.” Mizu’s authenticity spans far beyond the establishment’s atmosphere. In fact, Li, the company’s owner, “handpicks [Mizu’s] sushi from Japan’s fish market. Literally! As the sun rises in Japan to the opening of the fish market, he connects via video call to view and pick [Mizu’s] fish.”

Mizu’s menu consists of a variety of plates, including a full sushi bar, toriaezu (small plates), bichotan grill (Japanese charcoal grill), agemono (fried), ramen, raw bar, and oshokuyi (large plates).” Mizu also possesses an advanced and extensive bar program and the “largest collection of Japanese Whisky and Sake.”

It’s currently unclear if Mizu will offer grab & go options at the airport and/or truncate their menu for efficiency.
