The team behind popular chain Barcelona Wine Bar is planning a new eatery near its Denver location in the bustling River North Art District. A concept called Corsica will be opening later this year at 2801 Walnut Street, according to renderings filed in January by Track Architecture.
“The Barcelona Wine Bar team is planning a new sister restaurant just blocks away on Walnut St. to be opened in late 2023. The restaurant is expected to be a natural progression of Barcelona’s ethos, delving into inspiration from outside of Spain,” the company’s marketing department told What Now Denver.
Located in the heart of the RiNo neighborhood, Corsica will be located in a brick building built in 1934 that was previously occupied by Altitude Brewing & Supplies. The taproom and homebrew store moved to a Sunnyside location in 2021, and new retail and restaurant project Octane Alley took over.
Octane Alley has already celebrated the opening of Stem Ciders, while Crack Shack will be coming soon, developer Tai Beldock told Cherry Creek Fashion. In addition to Corsica and other upcoming concepts, there is also a large plaza and outdoor patio.
In conjunction with Track Architecture, Barcelona Wine Bar is working with local companies Apex Engineers Inc., MEC Inc., and D. Keller Electrical Design to create Corsica. A contractor for the project is still to be determined.
