Sarah Hicks and Emily Hauver, co-owners of a new concept expected to open near the University of Denver campus in January 2022, share a love of all things vintage. The two met less than a year ago and are now moving forward with Show Pony Vintage on South University.

After Hicks and Hauver met, they learned they had a lot of the same interests. “One of them is our love for collecting vintage. We’ve both been working really hard to do something like this separately even before we met, so it was kind of a match made in heaven,” Hicks told What Now Denver.

Hicks was working in the restaurant industry when the COVID pandemic hit and turned her life upside down. “I started selling at vintage popups all over Denver and then I created my own brand,” Hicks said. Her brand called Stoop Kid Threads sold at Garage Sale Vintage in Larimer Square and took off from there.

Show Pony Vintage will feature local vintage collectors and resellers. “We’re hoping to have 10 to 12 people that all have their own unique style—anywhere from the 50s all the way up until Y2K that will be selling for us. It will be supporting small local businesses around Denver by helping promote their names, all in one little shop together.”

When Show Pony Vintage first opens, it will focus on vintage clothing, but Hicks said they would like to add space for locals to sell housewares and artwork.

“We found the space over by DU, and we just decided to jump on it and do it.” They recently signed the lease for the space at 2025 S. University Blvd., Denver, CO 80210. They plan to remodel and knock down walls to create an open floor plan. “This all happened very fast but in the best way possible,” Hicks said.

“I think what got us really pumped was that there’s nothing like this around this area on University,” Hicks said. “We thought this would be a really fun way to get the area excited about something new.”

Karen Wolfe with The Fox Company was the leasing representative for the property.
